Pst! Wanna know some Google Adsense secrets? The only secret is that there are no secrets!
Do a search for Adsense secrets and you will be bombarded by a myriad of ads by telling you that they, and they alone have all the answers to making lots of money with Adsense. And I say bully to all of them. I repeat: nobody has all the answers and there are no "Adsense secrets" per se!
The only thing you need to find out all there is to know about Google Adsense is a search engine and a bit of common sense. There are literally hundreds of forums where you can pick up all the information you need, as well as hundreds of articles that have been written on the subject of Adsense.
All the answers are out there for you to find it you will put in a little bit of work. If you buy any of the ebooks available out there, you might find one little nugget of information that you may not have seen anywhere else, but I promise you: everything is out here on the Internet - all you have to do is search for it. Here are some of the search terms that I personally have used with great results:

What I can tell you from my own experience is this:
Ads at the top of the page and on the left of the page perform better than any other ads. (Take a look at the "heatmap" from the Google link below)
Ads without background color and borders perform better than ads within borders with background color.
Ads within content pages perform better than any other ads.
A search box on every page gives you another chance for earning Adsense income.
Your link at the top of the ad should be blue like a normal link, the ad should be black, and the url should also be black so that it blends in with the ad copy. That makes the link stand out and gives you a better chance of someone clicking on it.

To increase your site traffic, which obviously will increase your Adsense income, the best way to get traffic is to have fresh content at your site. Write your own articles and submit it to article directories like Go Articles etc. To find more article directories, just do a search for "free article directory submissions" on a search engine like Google.
Another way would be to publish articles by other authors that are relevant to your site content. You can find free articles all over the web by once again doing a search for e.g. "free site content".
Do this on a regular basis and watch your traffic increase on a steady basis. You also now know all the Adsense secrets you will ever need to optimize your Adsense ads so there is no need dig out your wallet for "secrets".

Increase Your AdSense earnings
Millions of web site owners in the world are extremely frustrated because they just cannot enough get visitors to their web site. There’s no mystery. The following reasons might give you some ideas why your blog fail to make money from AdSense.
1. Using Keywords
First, let's cover "on the page optimization". This refers to the locations on your web page where you place or use your Primary Keyword Phrase. (You'll often hear it referred to as that: your Primary Keyword Phrase - this is the main search term that you are optimizing any given page for.)
i) Directory / File Name: If you have already created your website, I wouldn't recommend going back through it to change all of your file names. However, when adding new pages or creating a new site, it makes sense to include your keywords in the directory names and file names. This helps to "define" your pages to both your visitors and to the search engines.
For the term "online business ideas" you can name the page:
online-business-ideas.htm -or- /online/business-ideas.htm
Search engines treat hyphens as spaces, allowing them to read the individual words in a file name or directory name.
In both cases the search engines will read the phrase "online business ideas". Again, this doesn't hold a lot of weight in and of itself.
ii) The Title Bar: The Title Bar is considered the most valuable piece of real estate on your web page - and for more reasons than one. First, the search engines look here for a general "summary" of the content of your page. It's important that you use your Primary Keyword Phrase at the very beginning of the Title.
Between the is where you want to place your page title, which should begin with your Primary Keyword Phrase as in the example above.
In addition, it's *important* to word it so that it will interest searchers that are scanning the search results where your listing appears. A title that is "stuffed with keywords" or doesn't make any sense to human readers, will not result in a very high click-through rate.

This is one of the easiest but often overlooked ways to make money from a blog. The income is consistent and passive at the same time – meaning you don’t have to do anything besides concentrate on the writing.

Some people are even creating one-pagers (using reprinted material or free articles) that carry 3 Adsense modules on the one page... and then advertising these pages on Adwords (or other pay-per-click engines).
The goal is to bid on less competitive keywords in the same niche where you can get good placement for the minimum bid. You then advertise your optimized page, which will hopefully display the more competitive (expensive) ads. With this method, you stand to earn way more than you spend...
4. High Paying Keywords
This is actually an inaccurate way to call it, though it's the popular phrase used in these discussions. What you are looking for is Competitive keywords. Meaning that the advertisers are paying higher bid prices for these words/phrases because it is a very competitive market. The more they are paying, the more you stand to earn.
Personally, anyone with a brain can certainly figure out some very useful ways to put this theory into action - while still providing a great resource to their target market.
